Dr. Jens-Albert Oppel has been Spokesman of the Management of Niedersachsen Ports since January 2010 and is responsible for the commercial and administrative areas within the organisation. After successfully completing his studies in 1995 as a Diplom-Wirtschaftsingenieur (graduate in industrial engineering) at Hamburg University, Dr. Oppel earned a doctorate while in the services of Lübecker Hafengesellschaft on the subject of “Strategic Port Planning”. Next, he played an important role in various functions in bringing about the strategic reorientation of the Port of Lübeck. In 2002 he was appointed Managing Director of a consultancy company for ports and logistics. In 2004, while exercising this function, he provided assistance with the privatisation of the ports and shipping administration of the State of Niedersachsen.

Hans-Joachim Uhlendorf has been Managing Director of Niedersachsen Ports since September 2009 and, as Central Division Head for the areas technology and port planning, he is also responsible for the strategic port development of the ports operated by Niedersachsen Ports. Uhlendorf, a graduate in engineering, is a specialist for hydraulic engineering and port construction. As Director-in-Chief of construction, Hans-Joachim Uhlendorf previously was Department Head of ports and shipping administration of the regional government of the Weser-Ems district and he was appointed Head of the Centre in Oldenburg in the course of the privatisation and establishment of Niedersachsen Ports in 2005. Hans-Joachim Uhlendorf studied Civil Engineering at the Technical University of Hanover, specialising in the field of Hydraulic Engineering.
