Whether you already have a clear concept of your professional future, or whether you are looking for a career that is a good match for you: An internship at Niedersachsen Ports gives you the opportunity to get to know many different professions close up and in person, to experience ports and to get an overview over multi-faceted activities.

We do not explicitly advertise internships for students. Please get in touch with the local HR contact (see below).

University students can experience our responsibilities for each job, for example in the technical, nautical or business areas, and find a topic that is a good fit for their thesis. You will find some relevant offers below. Should you not be able to find a good match there, please do not hesitate to make an inquiry with us.

Apprenticeship

Thanks to regular vocational training, also incorporated within the dual system of work and studies, we lay the foundation for having a pool of qualified employees available to us at all times. It is our goal, to further increase the rate of vocational training, which already lies beyond our own demand, and to increase the number of different jobs, which we train for. We are offering:

  • over 30 years of experience in vocational training
  • a solid training on the job
  • wages based on collective wage agreements
  • an annual "Apprentice Day" for starters

    

Commercial Apprenticeship (m/f) for Office Management (BRA/EMD/OL/WHV)

Next hiring date: Summer of 2017 Job

Description:

  • You will be in charge of organizing office related processes, work equipment and organizational means and jobs. 
  • You know the operational organization and the functional connections. 
  • You will work in accounting, cost accounting, purchasing, HR, and the secretariat. 

What kind of education is required?

  • A good intermediate secondary education is a pre-requisite.

Which other skills should I have?

  • A keen interest in business 
  • Basic data processing / IT skills 
  • A good command of the German language and good math skills 
  • Must like working with computers and in an office environment

How long does the Apprenticeship take?

  • 3 years 

Electronic Technician (m/f) for Industrial Engineering (BRA/EMD/NOR)

Job description:

  • You will install, maintain, and repair operational, production and processing equipment. 
  • You will install, maintain, and repair industrial operating facilities, or modern building system and automation technologies.

What kind of education is required?

  • A good graduation from a comprehensive school is a pre-requisite.
  • Successful graduation from the vocational school (applies only to EMD) 

Which other skills should I have?

  • Good math and physics skills 
  • Working diligently 
  • Cannot be prone to vertigo or be afraid of heights 
  • Ability for technology and crafts 
  • Ability for logical thinking 

How long does the apprenticeship take?

  • 3 ½ years
  • 2 ½ years (applies only to EMD)

Electronic Technician (m/f) for Energy and Building Services (Engineering) (CUX)

Job description:

  • You will be planning and installing electrotechnical equipment for power supply and power infrastructure of buildings. 
  • You will be planning, installing and mounting data networks or control appliances for heating, fresh air supply, and for air conditioners. 
  • You will program control programs and install and maintain them. 

What kind of education is required?

  • A good graduation from a comprehensive school is a pre-requisite. 

Which other skills should I have?

  • A good command of the German language and good math and physics skills 
  • Technical skills 
  • You enjoy organizational tasks 

How long does the apprenticeship take?

  • 3 ½ years

Industrial Mechanic (m/f) Specialization: Maintenance (BRA/EMD/NOR)

Job description:

  • You will maintain machines and equipment, set them up or convert them. 
  • You will troubleshoot and find matching spare parts. 
  • You will carry out repairs 

What kind of education is required?

  • A good graduation from a comprehensive school is a pre-requisite. 
  • Successful graduation from the vocational school (applies only to EMD) 

Which other skills should I have?

  • Good math and physics skills 
  • IT knowledge 
  • Working diligently 
  • Cannot be prone to vertigo or be afraid of heights

Metal Worker (m/f) for Construction Design (CUX)

Job description:

  • You design and build metal constructions, machines and equipment.
  • You will build doors, windows and utility buildings from metal. 
  • You will work with steel, aluminum, high-alloyed steel, brass, and copper. 
  • You will maintain facilities, vehicles, and equipment. 

What kind of education is required? 

  • A good graduation from a comprehensive school is a pre-requisite.

Which other skills should I have?

  • Good math and physics skills 
  • Technical skills 
  • You enjoy organizational tasks 
  • You possess great logical and spatial thinking 

How long does the apprenticeship take?

  • 3 ½ years

Ships' Mechanic (NOR)

Job description:

  • Ships' mechanics operate, repair, and maintain the machines and technical appliances aboard a ship and carry out maintenance work on deck. 

What kind of education is required?

  • A good graduation from a comprehensive school is a pre-requisite. 

Which other skills should I have?

  • You must be fit for working at sea on deck and on machines. The seaworthiness comprises sufficient physical fitness and hardiness, and particularly the ability to hear and see well and to be able to distinguish color nuances, as the job requires. 
  • Good math and physics skills 
  • A working knowledge of the English language, since English is the official international language in the maritime shipping industry. 
  • Technical and craft aptitude
