Engineering & Technical Department

Solid and Consistent

Planning is half the battle, when it comes to construction. In our Engineering & Technical department, we implement our development and maintenance projects. After careful planning and project engineering, designs become reality. Whether it is the restoration of a quay or the new construction of a large vessel berth: Everything goes hand in hand. In addition to our technical know-how and many years of experience, we rely on the latest digital methods (e.g. BIM = Building Information Modeling).

Kilometers Instead of Knots

All told, the NPorts rail track network covers a length of more than 75 kilometers. Currently, some 130 train journeys are taking place every week via these port railways in our Ports of Brake, Cuxhaven, Emden, and Wilhelmshaven. In order to maintain and further develop this capability, we optimize the railway infrastructure of the ports.

A Whole Lot of Work

To ensure that all tasks and projects work smoothly, many employees are hard at work at our sites. From civil engineers to technical draftsmen & women, from structural examiners to port railway dispatchers. In order to keep us within the cost and time frame and to comply with the high technical standards, we have a project and quality management as well as project controlling.
In Emden, we operate an electric utility company. And, let's not forget: Our colleagues in the area of infrastructure and superstructure, who take care of access routes, moorings, surface areas, facilities and buildings.

The framework conditions for such projects are becoming increasingly complex: dates, costs, risks, quality or reporting have to be managed and at the same time in harmony with applicable guidelines and legislation. That's why NPorts has a central unit management "Major Technical Projects and Large Measures", which supports our project management on site.
